SL-09|Traditional Washed|1,950m|88+
From the highlands of Inkawasi in Peru’s Cusco region, Qillu Rumi Estate sits at the foothills of APU Choqesafra, a mountain of deep cultural and spiritual significance to the local community.
At 1,950 meters above sea level, the estate lies in a high-altitude environment that is relatively uncommon among Peru’s coffee-growing regions. Combined with mineral-rich volcanic soil, native vegetation and natural shade cover, these conditions create a distinctive terroir for producing expressive specialty coffee.
This SL-09 lot opens with a refined floral character, featuring aromas of white flowers, jasmine and bergamot.
As the cup develops, notes of citrus, ripe pear and white grape emerge, accompanied by a clean, bright acidity and a delicate, well-defined sweetness.
The mouthfeel is silky and balanced, with an elegant, lingering finish.

Qillu Rumi Estate is located in the Incahuasi Valley of Inkawasi, within Peru’s Cusco region. The coffee farms are surrounded by the dramatic Andes landscape, with views toward the snow-capped APU Choqesafra.
The estate’s volcanic soil is naturally rich in minerals and organic matter, providing a stable source of nutrients for the coffee trees.
Native trees and vegetation are preserved throughout the farm and serve as a natural shade system. Fallen leaves return organic matter to the soil, while the vegetation helps regulate soil moisture and supports a healthier growing environment.
This combination of high elevation, volcanic soil and natural shade contributes to the distinctive floral and fruit-driven character found in the cup.
This lot is produced from the SL-09 coffee variety and processed using the Traditional Washed method.
After harvesting, the coffee cherries undergo depulping, fermentation and washing to remove the remaining fruit before being dried on African drying beds.
The washed process emphasizes clarity and cleanliness, allowing the coffee’s floral aromatics, bright acidity and delicate fruit characteristics to remain distinct and well defined.
The coffee is produced within the network of the Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Valle de Incahuasi (CACVI), established in 2005.
The cooperative brings together more than 500 coffee producers across the Inkawasi area and neighboring communities. Local processing facilities handle the collection and processing of coffee cherries, including depulping, fermentation, washing and drying.
Coffee is then transported to the cooperative’s central warehouse for physical grading and sensory evaluation by professional cuppers, helping maintain quality throughout the production process.
Coffee farming in the Inkawasi region is deeply connected to local traditions and community values inherited from the region’s Andean and Inca heritage.
The principles of Ayni, referring to mutual support, and Minka, collective labor, continue to influence community life and agricultural practices.
Shade-grown coffee, soil conservation and the preservation of native vegetation allow coffee production to coexist with the surrounding natural ecosystem.
From its high-altitude location beneath APU Choqesafra to its careful washed processing, Qillu Rumi Estate represents the distinctive character of high-altitude specialty coffee from Peru’s Cusco region.
