Located in the western region of Honduras near the Guatemalan border, the Copán region nurtures exceptional Strictly High Grown (SHG) specialty coffee at altitudes of 1,200 to 1,600 meters. Blessed with a cool climate and rich volcanic soil, this origin yields a beautifully well-rounded cup. It features signature aromas of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and caramel, accompanied by a subtle citrus acidity and a clean, sweet finish.
Elevation: 1,200 - 1,600 meters (SHG Grade)
Varietals: Catuaí, Caturra, Pacas
Processing Method: Primarily Washed (preserving a bright, clean cup with distinct layers)
Base Notes: Dark chocolate, cocoa, toasted nuts, caramel
Bright Finish: Accompanied by gentle notes of citrus, grapefruit, and a subtle hint of pear or pome fruits
With its well-rounded, full body and rich chocolatey profile, Copán coffee performs beautifully across various brewing methods:
Pour-over: Perfectly accentuates its delicate fruit acidity and caramel sweetness.
French Press or Cold Brew: Maximizes its rich, creamy mouthfeel and amplifies the nutty and chocolate notes.
Beyond its exceptional coffee, Copán is rich in history. Situated in western Honduras near the Guatemalan border, it is home to the magnificent ruins of an ancient Maya city. Renowned for its exquisite carvings and the Hieroglyphic Stairway, Copán is celebrated as the "Athens of the Maya World" and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
